Sai exemplifies the principle of OKness through shared power and relationships

Muriel James Living Principles Award 2026
A Tribute to
Sailaja Manacha

At the recently held South Asian Association of Transactional Analysts (SAATA) conference, someone asked me who my trainer was, and when I said Sai, they were quite surprised. They said they would never have guessed that because of how they experienced us more as colleagues than as a trainer-trainee relationship. And that, to me, embodies something about who Sai is — someone who truly lives by the principle of OKness. It's not hierarchies that guide her; it's relationships. Even as a trainer and supervisor, she exemplified it, and once our relationship changed to that of being colleagues in different spaces, she met me as an equal in those spaces. Her competence is something that I don't need to say much about because it is evident in everything she does. Her commitment to creating empowered spaces, where power is not held by one but shared with others, is why I would like to nominate her for the Muriel James Award.
