Alex van Oostveen embodies the philosophy that in becoming truly conscious of our inner world and attuned to those around us, meaningful and sustainable action naturally follows.
Alex’s perspective is uniquely informed by a 20-year career in military helicopter operational flying and advanced flight instruction. This was not merely a career, but an education in leadership within high-stakes, risk-prone environments. For four years, Alex had the privilege of flying as both wingman and leader of the South African Air Force’s formation aerobatic team, the Silver Falcons. Performing low-level close formation displays taught him that success and failure are often determined by the quality of potent relationships and communication. He learned how to stay grounded in the face of adverse, complex, and dynamic situations, a crucial skill for leaders navigating their own dynamic organizational environments.
In his current practice, Alex supports people and organizations in achieving greater fulfilment and more effective relationships. His approach is relational and informed by psychological theories, including Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Appreciative Inquiry. He works with the understanding that what emerges within the professional coaching relationship acts as a window into the client’s broader life. By co-creating a space that is both reflective and conscious, he helps CEOs, directors, and coaches solve problems effectively across the spheres of systems, tasks, and the self.
Alex is a dually accredited professional with a global reach. He holds a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential with the ICF and is certified by EMCC Global as both a Coach/Mentor Supervisor (ESIA) and an Accredited Coach as Senior Practitioner (EIA). His commitment to the integrity of the coaching profession is longstanding; he has served as the co-chair of the ITAA ethics committee and as a board member for various professional development associations.
