ITAA · Board of Directors · General Secretary
Keep the ITAA’s memory, order and fairness in good hands.
The General Secretary is an elected member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. They make sure every meeting is recorded, every decision follows the bylaws and every record is safe, and they lead the Nominations and Awards committees. If you love clear processes and care about how a global association is run, we would like to hear from you.
At the heart of the role
Two responsibilities that keep the ITAA trustworthy.
The General Secretary leads the administrative function of the ITAA: making sure the association runs well and follows the rules that govern it.
The memory of the Board
Take the minutes of Executive and Board meetings, publish them once approved, and keep every document stored safely online. Help the President set agendas, organise meetings and make sure official business follows the bylaws.
Fair elections, real recognition
Chair the Nominations Committee, set the nominations deadline with the Board and run elections with the Operational Administrator and the Script Editor. Lead the Awards Committee that honours outstanding contributions to TA.
Sounds like you? It takes two minutes.
Express your interest →Why it matters
Good governance is how a global community trusts itself.
The ITAA, the association founded by Eric Berne, brings together transactional analysts and students across six world regions. Every decision its Board takes needs to be recorded, transparent and in line with the bylaws.
The General Secretary makes that possible. Working closely with the President, the Executive Committee and the ITAA’s contracted administration team, they protect the association’s records, its procedures and the fairness of its elections.
Ensures official business is conducted in accordance with the Bylaws and guidelines.

Questions
Before you raise your hand
Is this an elected position?
Yes. The General Secretary is an elected member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. Expressing interest here opens a conversation; it does not replace the formal nomination and election process set out in the ITAA bylaws.
Do I need previous experience at the ITAA?
The guidelines ask that the Secretary has previously served on the ITAA Board of Directors or another ITAA committee. If you haven’t yet, tell us anyway: there may be a committee where you can start.
Do I need to be an ITAA member?
Yes. All Board and committee members are fully paid-up ITAA members. Not a member yet? You can join the ITAA here.
Is this a paid role?
No. Every role carried out in the name of the ITAA is voluntary. What you gain is a central place in the life of the association and a global network of colleagues.
How much time does it take?
The role follows the rhythm of the Executive and Board meetings, the AGM and the yearly nominations and awards cycles. We’ll talk openly about your availability in the first conversation.
Express your interest
Raise your hand for the General Secretary role.
This is not the formal nomination. It takes about two minutes and simply opens a conversation with the ITAA President about the role and its timing. You’ll get a confirmation by email right away.
